Langsa (29 October 2024). In late October, our team successfully presented the project to Gunung Leuser National Park to ask for a research permit to explore heather plants in Mount Kemiri.
The national park’s management is happy with the proposed research. They also highlighted that information on heather plant diversity, as well as plants in general, is generally lacking in their management area.
With the approval, our team needs to wait for the acceptance and approval letters to conduct botanical research. The proposed schedule for the exploration is from December 2024 to January 2025.
While waiting for approval from the national park, we are preparing to complete the fieldwork preparation. These include research materials and equipment to prepare herbarium specimens, plant photography, and video for a documentary of the expedition.
