Plant Conservation

Biodiversity conservation is one of the most crucial activities in current times. The loss of biodiversity speeding up almost every second. Plants which are considered to receive less attention compared to animals have the same level of threats. In Indonesia, there are many endemic, rare, and threatened plant species growing all over the country. Linking a systematics study is a key effort in the best practice of conservation efforts. In this topic, I contribute to the following:

  • IUCN Red List conservation status assessment of plants native to Indonesia for at least 51 species (see IUCN Red List page for WA Mustaqim)
  • Conservation research and action for some threatened or rare species
  • Rediscovery of rare species and population monitoring
  • Collaborate and contribute to the BGCI Global Conservation Consortia (Rhododendron and Magnolia)
